Below, Allie shares what makes her tick — professionally and personally:
What B2B marketing trend is inspiring you right now?
My favorite trend right now is interactive content. We’ve been using Ceros to create interactive infographics, flipbooks and other short-form, digestible content. Being able to brainstorm content with different layers instead of in a flat, one-dimensional way opens up so many creative avenues. We are finding new ways to reveal important statistics, quotes, callouts and even display case studies in more interactive and compelling ways.
What B2B marketing mistake makes you cringe?
Poor typography is pretty cringe-worthy for me. Being current and relevant with your content is extremely important, but not at the expense of the most basic rules of design and typography. I see a lot of content that was clearly created in PowerPoint (with basic templates) by non-designers, so issues like poor line breaks, orphans and widows are extremely obvious. You don’t have to be a modern-day Picasso, but some key design guidelines and best practices go a very long way for formatting content that a large audience is going to consume. Organization and clean design are always key.
Do you have a favorite blog? What is it and why?
I’ve been following UCreative (previously YouTheDesigner) for a few years. They post a lot of great articles and free resources for designers. My favorite articles are commentaries on new corporate logos or packaging releases. Their site is really easy to navigate, and the tone of their articles is approachable and fun.
What’s your favorite quote?
Who would play you in “C4D: The Movie”?
Alyson Hannigan — I used to get that comparison a lot when I had red hair (and when the “American Pie” series was big)… or Beyonce… whoever is available.
What’s your favorite TV show?
I’m a huge Chelsea Handler fan, so I’ve followed her from E! over to Netflix. Her old show was right up my alley in terms of pop culture — I’m a huge junkie. But I really like how her new Netflix show has an educational/political aspect that gels well with her snarky, sarcastic voice. There’s nothing better than relaxing and binge-watching her shows on the weekends with a glass of wine.
